Send Your Data to Space
Have you ever dreamed of going into space?
Leaving behind our world and heading into the unknown has been a dream of countless people throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Space has been called the final frontier, but it’s always been one that was out of range for all but a few of us. Until recently.
With the advent of commercial space agencies making frequent flights into space using increasingly advanced rockets and ships, space is nearly within all of our reach. Asgardia, as the first space nation in our history, is right there alongside the other visionaries and explorers who are bringing the colonization of space closer every single day.
To that end, we have recently made a huge leap into our future by being the first nation with sovereign territory in space: the Asgardia-1 satellite.
On November 12th, 2017, Asgardia-1 was launched to the International Space Station and was deployed into low earth orbit on December 7th. Asgardia-1 is our first step into the colonization of space. It is a CubeSat satellite, made up of two cubes 10cm x 10cm x 10cm in size.
Today, every citizen of Asgardia can be a part of this historic event by sending their personal data into space, onto the Asgardia-1 satellite.
What will YOU send?
The data that you choose to send could be any text document, short video, sound file, or image that you wish to represent you in space.
So far, over 18,000 files have been uploaded. We provide this service for free to our first 500,000 citizens, and you could be one of them! All you have to do is accept the Asgardian Constitution to become a citizen and you can send your data into orbit!
The satellite has a data storage capacity of 0.5TB. If you were one of the first 100,000 people to become an Asgardian citizen, you are eligible to send 500KB for free to Asgardia-1. If you are among the next 400,000 people to become citizens, you are eligible to send 200KB of data.
Why is the Asgardia-1 Satellite Important?
Why is this so important, you might ask? In the future, Argardia will have orbital habitation platforms and space stations. This satellite is simply the first step towards our goals, one that will be followed-up and improved in the future.
Along with your data, Asgardia-1 contains our Constitution, our national symbols, and other official documents showing that, indeed, Asgardia-1 is the first sovereign territory of Asgardia. Not only that, Asgaria-1 is performing valuable scientific research to help determine the reliability of digital data in space when exposed to high levels of background radiation. We expect Asgardia-1 to remain active for over a year.
Remember, as an Asgardian citizen, this is your satellite, and it is only the first! This is our shared territory in space and a huge step towards achieving our dream of the our nation in space.
Asgardia-1 can be tracked online.
